After 31 days of visiting Katie, our wish has been granted!
We had our court hearing at 10am on Monday and the judge granted our wish! After the 15-day waiting period, we will make a second trip back to Kazakhstan to pick up the new Katherine Anna Basinger.
We are so EXCITED that we are nearing the end of this process. It has been the experience of a lifetime, but it will be great to finally get Katie home to the US. We fly out of Karaganda on Tuesday morning and will be on our way home at 3:15AM on Wednesday morning.
I actually feel a little sad leaving our home away from home. And our last visit with Katie this afternoon was hard. What makes it easy is knowing that everyone in the baby house loves her and will take great care of her while we are gone. The doctor there (that testified in court) has even mentioned that we need to be thinking about getting a sibling for Katie. Hmmm - we are not even home yet, so we can't think about that quite yet.
Thanks to everyone for your prayers and notes. We will update the blog again once we start our second trip, around Feb. 8th.
Love,
Kelley
